Pick the channel before you pick the load

The most common mistake in this trade is buying a load because it looked cheap and then working out where to sell it. Reverse that order.

If you run a bin store, weight and unit count matter more than brand. If you sell on eBay, a searchable brand and a working item matter more than volume. If you sell live, novelty and unboxing appeal beat both. The same pallet can be a good buy for one of those and a bad buy for the other two.

High unit count, low value

Bin stores, flea markets, live shows. You are selling the pile, not the piece.

Branded, searchable, working

eBay, Mercari, Poshmark. Worth listing individually because the search demand exists.

Bulky or heavy

Local sale only. Shipping a treadmill eats the entire margin.

Practical

Three habits that separate the profitable from the busy

01

Photograph while you sort

Handling an item twice is the hidden cost that kills small resellers.

02

Set a floor price and hold it

Below roughly five dollars per unit, bundling beats listing. Your time is the scarce input.

03

Track cost per unit, not per load

The only number that tells you whether the last load was worth repeating.
